Tourism Minister Usi lauds Umodzi Park’s free Christmas Carol concert

LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-Tourism and Culture Minister Michael Usi applauded Umodzi Park for organizing free Christmas Carol concert.

Usi observes that the concert unites people who come together to sing songs of joy ahead of commemoration of the birth of Jesus Christ.

He was speaking during the concert on Friday night, December 17, 2022 at Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC), the facility Umodzi Park manages.

The concert featured Kaning’a CCAP Praise Team, Lilongwe Community Choir, Area 47 SDA Youth Choir, Music Crossroads Model Choir, Mass Choir and ST. Patrick’s Catholic Choir.

Kaning’a CCAP Praise Team ‘s Prince Mchenga representative lauded Umodzi Park for bringing together Christians of different domination to praise the God ahead of Christmas.

“We had special night together as Christians. This type of concert should always be organised to sooth people’s souls,” lauds Mchenga.

Umodzi Park Chief Executive Director Steve Lwanda expressed satisfactory over the concert success saying the public had been healed through soothing hymns.

Lwanda also said the concern helped its customers to appreciate the facility for business partnerships.

“Many people believe that Christmas is purely for Christians around the world. However, this concept has been changed with change of time. Today everybody be it a Christian or no-Christian wait for Christmas because the day is full of love, happiness and gifts and blessings.

“We opened the event to the public to give back to the community of Lilongwe an opportunity to say thank you for the support as Christmas is the time we give gifts to each other to celebrate God’s gift of Jesus to the whole world,” lauds Lwanda.

Christmas Carol is a joyful hymn or religious song, celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ.

It is called Christmas carols because were pre-Christian/pagan songs, sung at the Winter Solstice celebrations as people danced round stone circles.

The Winter Solstice is the shortest day of the year, usually taking place around 22nd December
