Zambia’s Junior Chipolopolo withdraws from four-nations tourney

LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-The Football Association of Malawi (FAM) who have organized the four nations tournament to take place in Lilongwe, this week has commumicated that the Zambia Under 20 national football team has withdrawn from the tournament.

The withdraw of Zambia,leaves the under 20 category with only three teams including host Malawi, Zimbabwe and Kenya hence the format change of the competition from knockout to round robin.

As per FAM Competitions and Communication Director Gomezgani Zakazaka, the junior competition will commence on Wednesday, March 20, and not on Thursday, March 21, 2024 as earlier announced and the matches have been moved from the magnificent Bingu National Stadium to Silver Stadium in area 47.

Zakazaka further said,the schedule for the Senior national teams remain the same as earlier communicated with all the four teams available for the competition.

Zimbabwe under 20 national team touched the base of the Capital, Lilongwe on Sunday while Kenya is anticipated to arrive on Tuesday.

The warriors will arrive in two groups with the first one expected to jet in Monday afternoon while the last group on Tuesday.

The Chipolopolo boys led by head coach Avram Grant the former Chelsea and Ghana tactician are expected to arrive in the country on Tuesday while Kenya’s Harambee Stars will jet in on Thursday.

1.Malawi Vs Zimbabwe Wednesday, March 20, 2024

2.Kenya Vs Zimbabwe, Friday, March 22, 2024

3.Malawi Vs Kenya Sunday, March, 24, 2024.
