(MaraviPost): Catfight (also girl fight) is a term for an altercation between two women, often characterized as involving scratching, slapping, hair-pulling, and shirt-shredding. It can also be used to describe women insulting each other verbally.
It is the secondary definition that Applies in this case, following Akweni Patricia Kaliati’s savage attacks last Saturday on MCP leader Dr Lazarus Chakwera saying he abandoned God for politics. Akweni referred to Chakwera as a biblical figure, Lazarus who was raised from the dead, and should wait for next life to govern Malawi.
Akweni apparently could not standby as MCP leaders including outspoken Spokesperson Jessie Kabwila have been having a field day piling on, on her Boss President Peter Mutharika. Patricia was annoyed because the MCP Spokesperson had supported a petition forcing the Speaker of the House to enforce section 65. She was also annoyed by calls for the President to resign following the sale of MSB.
Anyone who knows Patricia Kaliati should have known that she was not going to sit idle when you insult a Mutharika. She was the only one who stood unyielding when Bingu WA Mutharika died and many DPP cohorts were flocking to the PP.
As expected her attacks garnered the wrath of Jessie Kabwila, who could not standby when her ‘Man’ opposition leader Lazarus Chakwera was being attacked at the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) rally in Thyolo last Saturday.
Kabwira is demanding Mutharika to consider cabinet reshuffle and drop Kaliati, saying her conduct will “decampaining him.” Jessie Kabwila insulted Akweni further by suggesting that Kaliati need to go for “an IQ check.”
Jessie Kabwila who was a college professor before joining politics is insulting Patricia Kaliati’s intelligence and it is expected that the response will be brutal from Akweni.
As the insults between the two outspoken women of Malawi politics continue, our advice is buy tickets so that you can be at ringside to enjoy this catfight.
