Chile’s Apec, Climate change summits cancelled over metro’s increase fares demos

Chile president has announced the cancellation of Apec and Climate change summits that were scheduled to take place in November and December respectively.

Sebastian pinera, the president of Chile made the announcement on Wednesday afternoon after massive ongoing demonstrations that have been happening for the last 12 days.

The demonstrations that have been caused due to 3% increase in metro fares by government have claimed the lives of 11 people so far and 1554 people arrested.

In an interview as quoted by The Guardian, Pinera said:”this has been a very difficult decision that has caused us a lot of pain, we fully understand the importance of APec and Cop 5 for Chile and for the world.”

The summits were supposed to be attended by 20 world leaders including Mr Trump, Xi Jinping; the president of china and several others.
