BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)—Former Malawi President Peter Mutharika’s personal bodygaurd Norman Chisale’s wife, Evalista Chisale, and 12 police officers will remain on remand as Lilongwe High Court has reserved its bail ruling for Friday this week.
Evalista Chisale, who was the commissioner under the Peter Mutharika administration, and the other 12 police officers were on July 13, 2020 charged with murder on Buleya Lule’s death, a suspect who died in a police cell.
This morning, the court sat to hear bail applications for the 13, including commissioner Evelista Chisale but judge Ivy Kamanga has reserved bail ruling for Friday.
Lawyer representing 12 suspects in the case, Lugano Mabutwa said all the 13 suspects are seeking bail and their fate will be heard on Friday.
The suspects who have been in custody for about two weeks are accused to have murdered a suspect in a case relating to abduction of a person with albinism.
