Tragic! Afghanistan’s car bomb attack claims 12 lives, 100 wounded

KABUL-(MaraviPost)-At least 12 civilians were killed and more than 100 people were wounded following a car bomb targeting an Afghan police headquarters in the western province of Ghor.

The spokesperson to Ghor governor Aref Abir confirmed the news on Sunday October 18, 2020.

Abir said the blast damaged nearby buildings handling affairs for women and the disabled and those injured were taken to nearby hospitals.

The Interior Ministry disclosed that the car bomb exploded at around 11am in front of Ghor’s headquarters.

According to AFP report, the terrorists detonated a car with explosives in Feroz Koh, the capital of Ghor, a province that is not not known with much violence as compared to some other regions of the country.

Juma Gul Yakoobi, a Ghor health official said most of the victims were civilians and a fee other members of security forces.

No group has claimed responsibility, but fighting between the Taliban and government escalated in recent weeks.

Peace talks between the Taliban and Afghan government began in Qatar last month, but violence has continued unabated on the ground.

The talks appear to be stalled as the Taliban and the Kabul administration have struggled to establish a basic framework for negotiations.
