Malawi police-Thyolo’s Bvumbwe residents fracas claim one life

BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-Thyolo’s Bvumbwe residents and Malawi police on Monday, December 28, 2020 engaged in running battles over the death of a man who was allegedly shot dead by the police.

An eye witness told Maravi post that the man was shot on the chest as he was resisting to be handcuffed.

In the course of fleeing the scene a police officer also shot another male civilian.

James Kadadzera, Malawi Police Service publicist, says his office is yet to get information about the incident.

On his part Southern Police Spokesperson Ramsey Nhlane said the law enforcers have instituted an investigation over the shooting.

He said the suspect assault and wounded a police officer Daniel Banda early this year.

Police station fired tear gas to quell the situation as the communities were stoning the police station.
