Thembisire Munthali the brightest pupil from Ngwenya primary school in the Capital’s Lilongwe says she is the prospective person the family can rely on in the fight against poverty through education.
Munthali is the only pupil selected to national secondary of Blantyre Secondary School(BSS)from Ngwenya in the city out of 375 that sat for exams at the facility.
The 14-year-old alluring university material told MaraviPost on Friday at Ngwenya during an extrinsic motivation the school organized in which she was rewarded for meeting standards the school expects of their learners to go to national secondary school.
“My dedication is driven by poverty at home. We are many in our family and my father died and currently we are under the care of my mother and a step dad,” she said.
Ngwenya Primary School headteacher Ivy Mthethiwa said their grimace faces over immorality of learners at Ngwenya has been subsided by the performance of Munthali.
“Ngwenya primary has in recent years suddenly become a haunt of violence by learners and that has been impeding our efforts to help those that are willing to do well. But Thembisire proved to be naturally intelligent from onset and wish her to continue her tenet of being quiet and focused,” said Mthethiwa.
Her maternal uncle Helbert Njolwa is elated that Munthali will achieve her ambition of becoming a doctor and pledged to support her.
Last year, Thembisire emerged top in Zonal mock examination and did extremely well in the city mock.
She hails from Mzimba in remote areas of Mtende village in Paramount Mbelwa.
