Population Services International (PSI) Malawi celebrates in style the 20th anniversary of chishango condoms in the country. The Ceremony took place in the Mzuzu, Kawale based Counselling Adolescent Youth Organisation club (CAYO) from Lilongwe spiced the occasion with skillful dancing magic on Saturday.
Speaking during the event PSI Malawi HIV Program Manager Brenda Kamanga encouraged the youths to use condoms effectively in order to reduce the spread of HIV/AIDS, Sexually Transmitted Diseases and unwanted pregnancies.
“It has been a fruitful journey for us to serve Malawians with one o f the best products chishango which has great impact on the spread of HIV/AIDS as most people know the significance of using Chishango brand. We make sure that people in the country are being served to their best with best brand,” Kamanga said
Patron for CAYO Chipiliro Nkhwimba was pleased with the gesture showed by PSI Malawi to be part and parcel of the occurrence. This shows that youths has great role to play in sensitizing the public on the use condoms properly. “Existence of Chishango ‘ kuyend ndi mndindi’ for 20 years in Malawi has reduced the spread of HI V/ AIDS among the youths and the public at large,” said Nkhwimba
CAYO showcase the dancing skills through dancing competition, drama and poetry. PSI Malawi appeals to the general public to use the chishango brand effectively since prevention is better than cure.
PSI Malawi is one of the organisations that deal with youths by providing basic information on decision making and sexual reproduction health.
