Chakwera to uphold Malawi laws

NKHATABAY-(MaraviPost)-Tonse Alliance torchbearer Dr. Lazaus Chakwera on Tuesday promised the nation to respect and uphold Malawi’s constitution once voted into power alongside with Dr Saulos Chilima in the forthcoming fresh presidential elections.

Dr. Chakwera told the Nkhatabay Tonse Alliance mega rally that President Peter Mutharika administration has failed to respect the constitution cited blocking the decision of the courts, discrediting the duties of court judges and breaking the rights of country’s citizens.

Chakwera who is also Malawi Congress Party (MCP) leader challenged the nation along side with Chilima to step down if found breaking the laws of the land.

He therefore vowed with Chilima under Tonse government to develop Malawi in all sectors like agriculture, education, health as well as trade and industry.

Chakwera however expressed disappointment on ministry of health’s walk-in interviews stampede occurred in Mzuzu that youths got injured while crumbling for entry into the Katoto secondary school premises.

The MCP leader emphasized the need for creating jobs for young people with better mechanisms for interviewing candidates to avoid same scenarios.

He added that him and Chilima will ensure that the youths have things to do including employment.

On her remarks, former Malawi leader Dr. Joyce Banda said in Chakwera there is Samaritan leadership that the nation need to trust him.

On Covid-19 pandemic, Dr. Banda who is also Peoples Party (PP) disclosed that the pandemic funds are being mismanaged by authorities.

She therefore demanded accountability of the funds to Malawians.

to know how the funds are being used. She then appealed to all Malawians to vote for Dr. Lazarus Chakwera on June 23 Presidential election.

Chakwera and Tonse alliance leaders made whistle stop tours at Dwambazi, Kande and Chintheche before addressing thousands of supporters at Maganga ground near Nkhata-Bay Boma.
