Cyclone Jude in Malawi

LILONGWE Maravipost The Department of Climate Change and Disaster Management (DODMA) announced that on March 11, 2025
received preliminary reports from councils on the impacts of Tropical Cyclone which indicate that 169 households in Mulanje District have been affected by Cyclone Jude.

In a statement signed by Charles Kalemba, Commissioner for DoDMA said this has come with the highest rainfall amount (81mm) recorded in Chididi, Nsanje.

He said the department is making arrangements for the provision of relief assistance in the area.

He asked the general public to contact
Meteorological Services Department as rains are expected to intensify and further advises the people to be on high alert and
follow weather updates from the meterogical services

He said a team from the
council has been deployed to conduct further assessments and verifications.

He assured the general public to be duly informed on any developments regarding cyclones as currently, districts in the southern region have been experiencing heavy rains
