BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-First Capital Bank (FCB) has reaffirmed its commitment to football development in Malawi as part of its 30th anniversary celebrations.

The bank honored its pledge to reward Silver Strikers, who emerged victorious in the FCB Trophy finals against Bullets, with a symbolic cheque presentation at the bank’s Capital City branch.

The bank awarded K1 million each to 17 Silver Strikers players and two technical members, totaling K19 million.

Twikale Chirwa, FCB head of marketing, said the bank believes in promoting talent and that the awards will motivate young players, especially the under-20 players, to work hard.

“We believe in promoting talent, and we know that awards like these will motivate young players, most especially the under-20 players, to work hard,” Chirwa said.

This gesture demonstrates FCB’s dedication to nurturing young talent in Malawian football.

Silver Strikers coach Peter Mgangira expressed gratitude for the gesture, saying, “As a club, we are happy to receive this K19 million award. FCB should not stop here because it is with such games that we give chances to those that do not usually play big games, so we can identify new talents.” Mgangira’s sentiments highlight the importance of continued support for young players in the sport.

FCB’s commitment to football development is evident in its consistent support for various initiatives and teams in the country.

The bank’s 30th anniversary celebrations are marked by various activities aimed at giving back to the community, and this gesture is a testament to its dedication to promoting sports and talent development in Malawi.

The K19 million award will undoubtedly boost the morale of the Silver Strikers team and motivate them to continue performing at their best.

As FCB continues to support football development in Malawi, it is expected that more young talents will emerge, bringing glory to the country and the sport.
