BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-In a bold move to ensure accountability and transparency within the Malawian government, the Concerned Citizens of Malawi have launched a campaign to pressure Immigration Director Ken Zikhale Ng’oma and Immigration Chief Charles Kalumo to step down from their positions.
The group, led by Edward Kambanje has issued a statement outlining their intentions to hold a demonstration on April 3, 2024, to demand the resignations of duet.
Speaking on behalf of the group, Kambanje stated that the actions are necessary to address the alleged misconduct and mismanagement within the Immigration Department.
According to Kambanje, the group is calling for the immediate removal of Kalumo and Ng’oma due to their failure to effectively lead the Immigration Department.
The grouping wants to ensure that the department follows proper procedures in issuing passports and that President Lazarus Chakwera conducts a thorough investigation into the allegations of corruption and other pertinent issues surrounding to the issuance of passports and the alleged hacking of the system.
The campaign has gained widespread support from citizens across the country, with many expressing frustration over the lack of accountability within the government.
The concerned citizens have vowed to continue their efforts until the necessary changes are made and the officials in question are held accountable.
In response to the mounting pressure, both Kalumo and Ng’oma have issued statements denying any wrongdoing and expressing their commitment to upholding the integrity of the Immigration Department.
