Man holds vigil at utility body office for power delay connection in Mzimba

MZIMBA-(MaraviPost)-A 62-year-old man is holding a vigil at Mzimba utility body, Escom offices in protest over delays by the corporation to connect power to his private secondary school.

This is despite the man allegedly paying a connection fee of MK81,000 in 2018.

The angry man identified as Levi Zimba told Zodiak Online Monday, November 23, 2020 that he decided to take this action to push Escom to come out clearly on why it is failing to connect electricity to his Chiwawalu Private Secondary along Lojwa on the M1 road in the district.

However, Escom manager for the north Gilbert Chodzadza confirmed Zimba’s one man standing vigil.

Chodzadza however referred to shed more details of the matter referring to the company’s spokesperson who was not immediately available for comment.

President Lazarus Chakwera’s Tonse administration promised Malawians free electricity and water connection ahead of June 23, 2020 presidential elections.

Malawians are yet to start benefiting from the promise as the current 2020/2021 national budget did not include most Tonse promises.
