Heed the call: Malawi’s security agencies must impartial in serving citizens act before its too late

1 Min Read

The article above reignites what actually is needed to be done.

It serves as a reminder that mere rhetoric, statements, and symbolic presence will no longer suffice in the face of the growing discontent and chaos in the country.

Those entrusted with the leadership of organizations and institutions cannot afford to sit idle while lawlessness gains ground.

Silence, inaction, and bureaucratic delays only embolden perpetrators and erode public trust in state systems and democratic values.

Action is urgently needed before the country descends into total disarray, where neither the rule of law nor public confidence can be salvaged.

We are already witnessing warning signs: unchecked violence, selective justice, impunity for politically connected individuals, and blatant disregard for constitutional order.

If those in positions of power continue to overlook or downplay these signals, the very foundations of Malawi’s democracy will be shaken beyond repair.

Institutions such as the Malawi Police Service, the Malawi Defence Force, the Anti-Corruption Bureau, and the Judiciary must wake up to the urgency of this hour.

They must act with boldness, impartiality, and integrity—without fear or favour—if they are to preserve the social contract that binds citizens to the state.

This is not a time for political correctness, bureaucratic formalities, or internal excuses; it is a time for courage, reform, and decisive leadership.

Please, heed this, you able organizations and institutions!

Do the needful before we cross a point of no return.
