LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-The Malawi Police Service (MPS) in Lilongwe is keeping in custody 18-year-old Thomson Mapondo, on suspicion that he stabbed to death Madalitso Manyungwa, 23, over payment disagreements for services the latter offered as a braai master during a party at Chinsapo 2, on 8 September 2024.
In an interview, Lilongwe police spokesperson Hastings Chigalu said that at around 8 Oclock evening on Sunday, the suspect and others were having a party at Chinsapo 2, where Manyungwa (deceased), was hired to provide services as a braai master.
“Disagreements erupted when Manyungwa (deceased) asked for his payment after offering the braai services to the patrons,” he said.
It is alleged that in the heat of the disagreements, the suspect took a broken glass bottle, and stabbed Manyungwa on the lateral side of the neck.
Unfortunately, Manyungwa was pronounced dead upon arrival at Likuni Mission Hospital where he was rushed to.
Postmortem done by Kamuzu Central Hospital medical personnel revealed that death was due to sudden “Cardiovascular collapse as a result of severe haemorrhage shock from Carotid Artery”.
