
LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-There is low turn out of voters in the ongoing much awaited Lilongwe South By- Elections, The Maravi Post has learnt.
Our correspondent visits to some centres show a few people cuing to cast their votes.
However, there is tight security in all voting centres as promised by Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC).
MEC is therefore expected to announce the winner on Friday, January 31, 2020 in Blantyre
Mec Chairperson Justice Dr Jane Ansah told the news conference on Monday in the capital Lilongwe that the commission got assurance from Chiefs and various stakeholders that there will not be cases of violence during Campaign period.
MEC Postponed by Elections in October, 2019 due to clashes by supporters of rival candidates.
Malawi Congress Party (MCP) and Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) are among Major Political Parties Excepted to take part in the by Elections while UTM party withdrew its participation in the elections.
