BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-The Lilongwe Chief Resident Court through Chief Resident Magistrate Madalitso Chimwaza on Wednesday July 13, 2022 granted bail to Former Secretary to the Office of President and Cabinet Lloyd Muhara and Business Mogul Leston Muli.
The two were arrested on Tuesday July 12,2022 in connection to their alleged involvement in a loan settlement to have Muli Brothers Limited (MBL) pay MK5 billion in 50 years.
Among other conditions, Chimwaza ordered the two to pay a cash bond of mK500,000, one surety bonded at MK10 million, not to interfere with state witnesses, surrender their traveling documents and appear at Area 30 Police Headquarters in Lilongwe once every fortnight.
On the other hand, the State through Police Prosecutor Levison Mangani charged the two with two counts of conspiracy to defraud and abuse of office.
Mangani added that the state will later disclose the number of witnesses the two intend to parade.
Meanwhile, the case adjourned to September 15, 2022 .
