
LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-The Malawi High Court in the capital Lilongwe on Tuesday, August 25, 2020 reserved it’s ruling in a case involving deposed former vice president Everton Chimulilenji who is seeking a court redress to stop businessman Matias Bonongwe from seizing some of his properties.
Judge Kenyata Nyirenda heard arguments from both parties in the chambers today and will make a rulling at a date to be communicated.
The claimant is also demanding MK100 million from Chimulilenji supposedly for a flopped a deal to supply Maize to Admarc, which allegedly was arranged by Chimulilenji as a Minister of Disaster Management Affairs before it was late cancelled.
But Chimulilenji is also claiming damages for trespassing and character assassination from Bonongwe.
Meanwhile, former Attorney General (AG) Kalekeni Kaphale has been caught pleading Bonongwe to withdraw the case despite Chimulirenji move.
In an audio phone call in our possession, Kaphale asked Bonongwe to engage his lawyer in withdrawing the case that be resolved outside the court.
But Bonongwe told Kaphale that Chimulirenji is naive on the matter hence his action to seize his properties.
