#Malawi fresh polls: Mzimba’s Mbalachanda DPP monitor arrested for illegal IDs, voter certificate possession

Mzimba’s Mbalachanda DPP monitor Mary Banda arrested

MZIMBA-(MaraviPost)-The governing Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) monitor was on June 23, 2020 arrested at Mbalachanda polling center in Mzimba for allegedly being found with six national identity cards and six voter certificates.

Mzimba District Returning Officer, who is also District Commissioner Emmanuel Bambe confirmed the arrest saying police are still investigating the matter.

The woman identified as Mary Banda of Kajapi village, Inkosi Chindi is being kept at Mbalachanda Police Unit.

Malawians are today voting in the fresh presidential elections following February 3, 2020′, Constitutional Court (ConCourt) nullification of May 21, 2020.

Incumbent President Peter Mutharika along side Atupule Muluzi faces Tonse Alliance’ Lazarus Chakwera with Saulos Chilima.
