Malawi Police in Mwanza nab a hard core criminal Tayamika Chimphonda for various offenses

The Malawi Police Services in the southern district of Mwanza have on Tuesday, Morning, April 5, arrested the 27 year-old man, a hard core criminal who has been suspected of being terrorizing the boarder district for various offenses.

Mwanza Police Station Public Relations Officer, Edward Kaunda has confirmed The Maravi Post on Tuesday, evening, the arrest of Tayamika Chimphonda who has been on his station’s wanted list for a number of break in complaints that police received last year, 2015.

Police Publicist Kaunda told The Maravi Post that Chimphonda old was arrested at around 8am after members of the general public tipped police officers who were on duty at the check point which is at Mwanza police station that Chimphonda was in the minibus which was packed at Thambani turn –off in the district.

“Tayamika Chimphonda is a very dangerous criminal who has been on Mwanza police wanted list for some time now for a number of breaks in complaints that police received last year. Tayamika once served an 8year jail term for the offence burglary which he committed in 2008.

“During interrogation at the police station Tayamika confessed as to why he is failing to understand what drives him into the habit of breaking into people’s homes saying he would really like to stop stealing but some evil spirits forces him into the act.

“At the time of his arrest Chimphonda was found with a plasma screen which he stole from a Mr. Sharu’s house on the April 2, 2016 at Mchoseni village and he was going with it to Zalewa where he wanted to sell it. The suspect will appear in court soon after police complete investigating in all complaints which were launched against him”,
explains Publicist Kaunda.

Tayamika hails from Mchoseni village, Traditional Authority (T.A) Kanduku in the boarder district of Mwanza.
