BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)—President Lazarus Chakwera has this morning left the country for the Republic of Mozambique with high prospects for strengthened ties in various areas of cooperation including energy, trade and transport.

Speaking before departure at the Kamuzu International Airport in Lilongwe, Chakwera reaffirmed the need for Malawi to bolster her bilateral ties with neighbouring countries including Mozambique for the mutual benefit of their people.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Malawi leader is expected to return from Mozambique later today in the afternoon ahead of his two – day State visit to the Republic of Tanzania.

The one day official visit to Mozambique is the third official foreign visit for the Malawi leader after similar visits to the Republics of Zambia and Zimbabwe since he was ushered into office following the June 23 fresh Presidential poll.
