Sidik Mia tests positive to Covid-19

LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-Malawi Transport and Public Works Minister Sidik Mia has tested positive to Covid-19 pandemic.

Mia has become a second cabinet minister to test positive after Labour Minister Ken Kadondo was admitted at Kamuzu Central Hospital last week.

In a brief statement available to The Maravi Post, Mia who is Malawi Congress Party (MCP) first vice president says he has put himself on isolation in his home.

“Dear Friends , I wish to inform you that I have tested Positive for Covid 19. I have self isolated at home. I have mild symptoms and my condition is very stable.

“I advise anyone who has been close contact with me these past days to please get tested,” urges Mia.

He added, “I urge you all dear friends to PLEASE adhere to the Covid safety guidelines. Covid is real!I wish to take this opportunity to applaud all our healthcare workers for their dedication and the remarkable job they are doing.I thank you all for your kind words and good wishes.Please stay safe”.

As of January 7, 2021, Malawi had 7611 Covid-19 cases with 203 deaths out of 91068 total tests since March 2020.
