Marauding hyena kills Malawian woman, injures several in Mzimba

Marauding hyena killed in Mzimba

MZUZU-(MaraviPost)-A marauding hyena has killed a woman and injured about seven people in the area of Group Village Headman Kamangadzi Makamo in Mzimba District.

According to an eye witness, the woman, who was attacked by the fierce wildlife when she was trying to protect her child, who was also under attack by the same animal and she died on the spot.

Confirming the fate, Mzimba District Police Public Relations Officer Peter Botha, said the woman and seven others, whose particulars are yet to be established, were all heavily attacked but the seven just sustained various degrees of injuries and were referred to Mzimba District Hospital.

Meanwhile, Mzimba South District Health Spokesperson, Urunji Luhanga, has said four of those who were referred to the hospital, have been transferred to Mzuzu Central Hospital for a special treatment.

On Sunday, some irate villagers hunted the animal down and killed it.
