LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-The President Peter Mutharika has been appointed as Scotland Malawi Partnership’s Co‑Honorary Patron.

In accepting the appointment, President Mutharika reaffirmed his commitment to deepen the fraternal bonds of friendship between the peoples of Malawi and Scotland.

The Scotland Malawi Partnership is an international development network established to foster collaboration and friendship between Scotland and Malawi.

This appointment marks the second time President Mutharika will serve as the Partnership’s Patron, underscoring the network’s confidence in his leadership and vision for bilateral relations.

The appointment was announced in an official press release dated 25th February 2026 from Capital Hill, Lilongwe, issued by the Chief Secretary, Dr. Justin Adack K. Saidi.

The release highlighted that the partnership aims to strengthen cooperation in development initiatives, leveraging the goodwill between the two nations to promote mutual benefits.

The Malawian government expressed warm congratulations to President Mutharika and extended wishes for his success in the role, emphasizing the importance of the patronage in enhancing people‑to‑people ties and collaborative projects between Malawi and Scotland.
