LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-Former Deputy Minister of Health Halima Daudi is in police custody at Lilongwe Police Station after being found in possession of $76,900 suspected to be fake.

The national police spokesperson Lael Chimtembo has confirmed the arrest of Daudi.

“It is true. She was found with $76,900 suspected to be counterfeit currency. She is expected to appear before the court soon,” said Chimtembo.

The police publicist disclosed that Daudi will be charged with being found in possession of articles bearing designs that imitate currency.

Police have not yet given details on how the suspected fake dollars were found or if anyone else is being sought in connection with the matter.
