Open letter to President Chakwera

From: Hon. Allan Ngumuya

To: Dr. Lazarus Chakwera / MCP and all Malawians

Mr. President,

I won’t waste your time, but I must openly tell you that you have failed Malawians.

I have come to believe that you fully understand what you are doing.

Regarding the State of the Nation Address (SONA) you recently presented in Parliament, I do not blame any of your ministers.

No, the responsibility lies entirely with you.

Lazarus Chakwera has failed
Austerity Measures or Extravagant Treasures?

You take advice from your inner circle to exaggerate reports and manipulate national addresses.

I strongly believe you always have a backup plan to justify failures when your strategies backfire.

I also believe that in your decision-making, you and your advisors assume that “Malawians are fools, they forget quickly.”

This belief is evident in how you govern, and unfortunately, Malawians tend to act as if this is true.

For instance, we find ourselves stuck between two failed parties: the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) and the Malawi Congress Party (MCP).

The DPP promised to turn Malawi into “Singapore,” yet their tenure was riddled with corruption and lawlessness.

Their party cadets committed heinous acts, including the burning of the Tambala family in Lilongwe simply because they supported UTM.

We saw lies, corruption, and economic mismanagement under the DPP.

Yet, despite all that, Malawians are now comparing them with MCP because MCP has proven to be even worse.

This means we are being forced to choose between two evils.

Mr. President, you have failed to offer real solutions to Malawians.

Instead of addressing pressing issues, you divert attention to so-called “developments” (zitukuko).

However, Malawians’ primary concerns are not about infrastructure; they are about survival.

If you have not been told the real problems Malawians are facing, here they are:

Key issues you must address:

1) Reduce the price of maize – Malawians are starving, and maize prices are unaffordable.

2) Restore forex availability – This will stabilize inflation and sustain small and medium businesses.

3) Resolve the electricity crisis – The persistent blackouts are crippling businesses and livelihoods.

4) Ensure a stable fuel supply – The current scarcity hinders the movement of goods and people.

5) Control price hikes on essential commodities – Everyday price increases are making life unbearable.

6) Improve affordability of basic needs – Soap, cooking oil, and other essentials must be within reach for the average Malawian.

7) Abolish the AIP (Affordable Inputs Program) – It has failed to serve its intended purpose.

8) Increase salaries by 400% – Wages must match the rising cost of living.

9) Implement real Mega Farms – Not the small-scale farms being marketed as mega farms.

10) Engage the youth in governance and development – They are the future, and their involvement is crucial.

Unfortunately, Mr. President, it is clear that you cannot and will not achieve these things. Malawians will judge you based on these critical areas, not on misleading development projects.

A call to Malawians

Malawians, do not vote for MCP.

If you do, expect continued economic suffering, high prices, and hardship for your children.

Young people, do not be deceived by last-minute attempts to engage you—where was the President all this time?

Now he suddenly needs your vote?

At the same time, Malawians, do not vote for DPP either.

If you vote for DPP, you are inviting the same group that previously abused power and plundered national resources.

They are waiting to return and continue where they left off.

Be careful what you wish for—DPP is not a solution.

The right choice for Malawi

Malawi needs a new leader—someone with expertise, vision, and the ability to govern beyond party politics.

That leader is Dr. Dalitso Kabambe.

He has a proven track record and experience in economic planning, budgeting, and governance.

Under his leadership, Malawi saw economic stability, lower inflation, and better access to essential resources.

If you want a better Malawi, vote for Dr. Dalitso Kabambe.

Let us break free from recycled politicians who have nothing to offer but suffering. Malawi deserves a fresh start.

I wish you all the best, my fellow Malawians.

My tears will only dry when we elect a leader who can truly transform this nation. Vote for Dr. Dalitso Kabambe!
