Fellow Malawians,
When we formed the People’s Development Party (PDP) last year, our vision was not merely to add another name to the political roll call of this country. We had a clear mission: to step forward as a new voice, to provide alternative solutions to the many challenges Malawians face, and to prove that politics can be a force for development and dignity. To do that, we had to contest the 2025 General Election. We jumped into the race. We competed. We campaigned. And we exercised our constitutional right with courage and conviction.
Like in every competition, there can only be one winner. Preliminary results from tally centers across the country indicate that PDP will not carry the crown in this election.
We accept this reality with humility. But while the ultimate crown has been entrusted elsewhere, we take solace and pride in the fact that PDP has earned parliamentary representation in its very first election cycle.
That is no small achievement. It is a testament to the fact that Malawians have recognized PDP as a credible player on the political stage, and for that, we give thanks to God and to all who believed in us.
To us, defeat is not defined by falling short in an election. Real defeat comes when you refuse to rise after the fall.
As a party, we are determined to stand, to learn, and to grow stronger. Once the Malawi Electoral Commission formally announces the results, we shall reconvene through our structures to reflect, evaluate our performance, and chart a path forward as we look to the 2030 General Elections. In doing so, we shall use every lesson from this election to refine our message and strengthen our capacity to serve Malawians better.
We are also aware of reports of irregularities in some cases affecting our candidates.
These concerns are being consolidated, and a formal complaint will be submitted to the Malawi Electoral Commission for review and action. We remain committed to due process, because democracy must be safeguarded not only in victory but also in how we handle setbacks.
To our supporters, we say this: keep calm, keep faith, and keep believing. By contesting in this election, PDP has not only learned but has also shown that it has a place in shaping the future of this country. When MEC officially announces the winner of the presidential election, PDP will duly congratulate that winner.
We are not defined by one election cycle. We are defined by our mission — to offer solutions to hunger, unemployment, inequality, and underdevelopment, and to restore integrity and purpose to public service. That mission continues.
Be assured, the PDP is here to stay. We may not have worn the crown this time, but our journey is far from over. Until our goals and objectives, enshrined in our party constitution, are fully realized, PDP shall live, grow, and fight for the Malawian people.
