GARISSA-(MaraviPost)-At least six suspected terrorists who broke into several houses in the night and opened fire at the men after accusing them of harbouring Ethiopian rebels have been gunned down in Jirole area in Lower Garissa Area.

North Eastern Regional Commissioner, Nick Dalana confirmed that the terrorists were killed by Kenya Army (KDF) Special Ops team (SOT) at Jirole in Ijara Sub-County.

Dalana added that one of the terrorist was captured alive and some weapons were retrieved from the assailants.

A report by Daily Nation revealed that locals in Moyale’s Sessi area alleged that the gunmen were Ethiopian soldiers and they had been killed on claims of harbouring rebels.

The recent attack happened just hours after Ethiopian President, Sahle-Work Zewde paid President Uhuru Kenyatta a courtesy call at State House, Nairobi on Thursday, March 12.

The two leaders discussed a wide range of issues including the peaceful co-existence among communities living along the Kenya-Ethiopia border and some of the challenges facing the Nile River basin and the need for pursuing African solutions to African problems.
