South Africa court jails Zimbabwean man Wellington Kachidza to six life terms, 192 years for murder

PRETORIA-(MaraviPost)- South African court has sentenced a Zimbabwean man, 28, to six life terms and 192 years imprisonment for a series of crimes.

The Pretoria High Court convicted Wellington Kachidza on Thursday, February 24 after he pleaded guilty to the crimes.

According to the spokesperson for National Prosecuting Authority in the North Gauteng Region, the convict was found guilty of six counts of murder, three rapes, eight kidnappings, eight extortion, eight robberies and violating south Africa’s immigration laws.

Zimbabwean man Wellington Kachidza to spend 192 years in jail

Kachidza committed a sum of 34 counts between January 2018 and December 2019.

Herald reported that the convict lured his male victims, pretended to ask them for their assistance with driving and eventually kidnap them to demand ransom money from their families.

He reportedly would killed his victims once the families have paid the demanded ransom. Postmortem results for the victims revealed they all died of head injuries or trauma to the head.

South Africa is known for passing tough sentenced to serious offenders. One of the toughest sentence was passed to Moses Sithole, South Africa’s most prolific serial killer. He was slapped with 2410 years for murdering 38 people, and raping 40 more.

Another convict who made headlines after getting tough sentence was Cedric Maake who is currently serving a 1 340-year prison term for 27 murders he committed in Gauteng between 1996 and 1997 followed by Sipho Thwala who got 504 years for the 19 murders.
