BLANTYRE, Malawi – Mafikizolo, the headline duo at this year’s ‘Lake of Stars’ music festival set to kick-off Friday night at the southern lakeshore district of Mangochi, say it is excited to be back in Malawi after ten years.
The group’s lead act, Nhlanhla Sibongile Mafu Nciza, on arrival at Chileka International Airport where they were welcomed by TNM, one of the major partners of the festival, said the duo felt good to have been chosen to headline the festival.
“We’re ready to rock the Lake of Stars festival with the songs we’ve released between our last visit to Malawi in 2002 and now,” she said. “We’ve also done a number of collaborations with other artists which are due for release later this year, and these will also be sampled by the festival fans.”
Mafikizolo was welcomed on arrival at Chileka International airport by Lake of Stars telecoms partner TNM, which drove them in specially branded SUV vehicles to Mangochi.
“We are very pleased that our partnership with Lake of Stars will help unleash the best in African music and performing talents,” Said TNM Marketing Manager Madalitso Jonazi.
