Standard Bank gives customers rare AFCON final match experience

Standard Bank, the official financial services sponsors of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has hosted customers to live beaming of the final Orange Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) match between Ghana and Ivory Coast in all the three regions. 

Ivory Coast have lifted the AFCON trophy after goalkeeper Boubacar Barry produced a fine save against the Ghanaian keeper in the penalty shoot-out, before beating him in what was the last goal of the tournament.  

 

 

In Lilongwe, the customers were hosted at Capital City Branch by the Managing Director Andrew Mashanda and other senior officials. Elsewhere, customer services teams are leading the bank at Atmosphere Restaurant in Blantyre and Sunbird Mzuzu Hotel in the Northern region.

 

Said the bank’s Head of Marketing Thoko Unyolo: “Standard Bank is very proud to be the bank that brings you football that unites Africans. Tonight, we are offering customers the opportunity to enjoy the AFCON experience.  This event provides a platform for interaction between the customers and the bank. The setting is such that both sides have the opportunity of discussing business in a relaxed and fun atmosphere while watching the final match.”

 

Unyolo said last tonight’s experience emphasizes Standard Bank’s commitment to Pan-African football over the long-term. “As the bank with the largest presence in Africa of any financial institution, we are driven by a passion to make meaningful connections with the communities we operate in through football. Such is the case here in Malawi where we’ve been sponsoring the Knock-Out Cup for Super League teams for many years,” she said.

 

Standard Bank’s commercial agreement with CAF is for the period 2010 to 2016. The partnership gives the bank exclusive sponsorship rights to key CAF tournaments and events.
