LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-As one way of distributing loans country wide,National Economic Empowerment Fund (NEEF) is expected to provide 1 loan officer to every constituency with 200 million budget.
Chief executive officer for NEEF, Alfred Dyetseni revealed this to parliamentary committee on Budget and finance on Thursday, August 5, 2021.
Dyetseni said the loan role out is expected to start in December this year.
He said NEEF is yet to recruit 300 interns which will be used in the distribution of loans.
He has asked the committee to facilitate the supplementary budget of MK20 billion to NEEF from the august house.
In her remarks Chairperson for Budget committee,Gladys Ganda said the committee had heard the concerns of NEEF and the committee will push for the supplementary budget come next seating in November.
Ganda said the loans will help them to gain votes from rural masses as they promised to help them during campaign period.
Currently NEEF has MK30 billion at hand for loan distribution with a shortage of 20 million.
