BEAM Trust feeds 500 Lilongwe-Nankhaka city’s households

LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-In a bid to ease prevailing food crisis in some families, Beautify Malawi (BEAM) Trust on Thursday, March 12, 2026 donated assorted food items to over 500 households in Lilongwe-Nankhaka City Constituency.

The relief food items worth MK32 million were distributed at Nyasa Ground in Area 49, Lilongwe to vulnerable people.

BEAM representative, Fannie Kachale, said the Trust remains committed to assisting people affected by hunger and various disasters across the country.

“We understand that the people are at risk of hunger here as a result of various challenges.

“As a Trust, we will do everything in our capacity to offer support. ” Kachale said.

She therefore assured of reaching out more communities to ease food crisis.

After receiving the donation, the constituency’s legislator who is also Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, Patricia Wiskes lauded BEAM Trust for the timely support.

She hailed the support from BEAM, saying “it has targeted the ultra-poor in urban areas, a group often overlooked by relief programmes”.

Wiskes therefore appealed for support for underprivileged people living in urban and semi-urban areas.

One of the beneficiaries, Joyce Ntalika from Area 49 Dubai, expressed gratitude for the assistance.

“We are going to eat today. We say thank you to BEAM Trust, particularly the First Lady Gertrude Mutharika for remembering us,’ excited Ntalika.

The donated relief food items including maize flour, soya pieces, and salt.

First Lady Gertrude Mutharika has Urged  girls in the country and beyond to take challenges in life and fight hard to realize their dreams.
Madam Mutharika was speaking on Monday at the closing ceremony of women in science camp at Malawi University of Science and Technology in Thyolo.
