MSG Kanengo campus for patriotic, integrity courses

……..Extends 12 cohort application programs to April 12, 2023

LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-Malawi School of Government (MSG)-Kanengo campus says patriotism, integrity and fiscal discipline will be blended into programs and courses the institution offers towards achieving Malawi 2063 agenda.

MSG-Kanengo campus Acting Executive Director Dr. Jessie Kabwila told the news conference on Thursday, March 30, 2023 in the capital Lilongwe that public servants and private individuals need to be instilled with patriotism, integrity and fiscal discipline skills for better Malawi.

Kabwila cited theft by public officers on relief items for Tropical Cyclone Freddy survivors arguing that the misconduct is due lack of patriotism, integrity and fiscal discipline.

She was speaking after announced extension of cohort 12 application for various programs till April 12, 2023.

“We are including patriotism, integrity and fiscal discipline into programs, courses that trained individuals and public servants be good citizens. Responsible citizen embrace love, unity towards others.

“Currently, crop of public servants lack patriotism, integrity and fiscal discipline when executing duties. For instance, well-wishers are donating relief items to cyclone survivors, then you hear that a public servants steal the items while beneficiaries are in pain, that’s lack of integrity,” says Kabwila.

“On extension of application for courses, she said, “Due to the overwhelming response from the general public and in order to appreciate the Malawi School of Government (MSG), the closing date has been extended from 31st March 2023 to 12th April 2023.

We have been receiving a lot of calls particularly from prospective students for Master of Science in Project Management among others. Currently, MSG is the only institution in Malawi offering the programme.

In view of the development, MSG Kanengo campus shall conduct open days at Kanengo and Blantyre satellite campuses on Monday, April 3 and Tuesday, April 11, 2023 respectively from 9:00 hours (CAT).

As a parastatal, Malawi School of Government (MSG) is a Malawi 2063 (MIP-1) that prioritised Malawi Government public sector reform intervention designed to enhance performance and promote professionalism and ethical leadership in the public service.

The MSG was formed through an Act of Parliament No. 33 of 2022 which amalgamated the former Malawi Institute of Management (MIM) and Staff Development Institute (SDI).

Its operations commenced on 1st December, 2022 following the pronouncement of the commencement date by the Head of State Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera.

The main mandate of MSG is to develop and deliver human resource development programmes and build capacity of the public and private sector through providing training, research, consultancy, and advisory services in order to improve service delivery.

Its main functions as defined by the MSG Act including to provide training, consultancy, research and advisory services while designed to inform public policy, promote national development; Promote patriotism, honesty, integrity, hard work, transparency and accountability in the public service and the public sector.

MSG Kanengo campus introduces marketing fundamentals course for tourism promo

LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-Newly established Malawi School of Government (MSG) Kanengo campus has emphasised the need for citizens to be positive with what’s shared on social media and internet for tourists attraction.

This is the reason MSG Kanengo campus has introduced marketing fundamentals course aimed at equipping country’s marketers through Ministry of Tourism.

MSG Kanengo campus Acting Executive Director Dr. Jessie Kabwila warned that unless people begin to talk more about Malawi’s tourists attraction sites, efforts to develop the country through the tourism sector will hardly be achieved.

Dr. Kabwila said tourists and other investors will only be interested to visit and invest where they hear good stories about such destinations.

She was speaking on Monday, February 13, 2023 Mponela at the opening of a week long training for tourism marketing officers under the ministry of Tourism on marketing fundamentals.

Kabwila observes that Malawians are fond of sharing bad things on internet about the country which scare tourists and inventors.

“This course is to equip our marketers through ministry of tourism that the nation be with on the map with positive things Malawi has for investors attractions.

“Its not only Malawi going through social-economic challenges but also our neighbors. But our neighbors advance their countries positive things not negatives. We are talking about job creation through tourism. But that cant be achieved with bad data content on internet,” dares Kabwila.

Echoing the same, Department of Tourism’s Chief Officer Ian Musyani observes that Malawi needs strategic marketers to sell the nation for investors, tourists attraction.

Musyani therefore lauded MGS Kanengo campus for relevant courses that bring impact towards human resource capacity building for Malawi’s 2063 agenda.

Malawians told to embrace newly introduced MSG’ cyber security course

LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-Malawians have been dared to embrace newly introduced cyber security and networking degree program course to meet the responsibilities and challenges demanded in the sector.

This follows after Malawi School of Government (MSG), stormed the two major cities of Blantyre and Lilongwe on selling degree program course for the past weeks.

The school formerly Malawi Institute of Management (MIM) has partnered with UK’s University of Central Lancashire on this course.

MSG Kanengo campus Acting Executive Director Dr. Jessie Kabwila disclosed that the new programme is open to both those with computer background and those without computer background.

Kabwila said that the programme is expected to assist learners in assessing the security risks inherent in computer networks and the technologies that can be employed to counter such risks.

Interested learners on cyber course

She reminded the public that in the country, it is only their institution that offers this Cyber Security and Networking degree.

She however, urged Malawians to take advantage of this opportunity and advance their career in cyber security.

The course will enable learners to be equipped with the knowledge, technical and interpersonal skills necessary for taking part in the design, implementation, management and security of modern computer systems.

Among the computer programmes offered by the institution include NCC Education Level 4 Diploma in Computing, NCC Education Level 5 Diploma in Computing, NCC Education Level 5 Diploma in Computing with Cyber security, BSc (Hons) Business Computing and Information Systems and BSc (Hons) Cyber Security and Networking.

Malawi School of Government dates Blantyre on cyber security degree program

BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-Barely a week after Malawi School of Government (MSG), formerly Malawi Institute of Management (MIM) partnered with UK’s University of Central Lancashire on cyber security and networking degree program, the institution has gone flat-out selling the course to the public.

MSG Kanengo campus Acting Executive Director Dr. Jessie Kabwila and entire backroom staff were in Blantyre on Tuesday, January 24, 2023 for the awareness campaign.

During the opening day, Kabwila disclosed that the new programme is open to both those with computer background and those without computer background.

She added that the programme is expected to assist learners in assessing the security risks inherent in computer networks and the technologies that can be employed to counter such risks.

“In Malawi, MSG is the only institution in Malawi offering this Cyber Security and Networking degree and the programme is one way to secure Malawi 2063. We urge all people from all backgrounds to take advantage of this opportunity and advance their career in cyber security.

“Learners will be equipped with the knowledge, technical and interpersonal skills necessary for taking part in the design, implementation, management and security of modern computer systems,” said Kabwila.

Kabwila sells cyber course to the public

In his remarks, the MSG Kanengo campus head of external programmes Alex Chanza said the computer programmes offered by the institution will be delivered through the NCC education’s Virtual Learning environment and learners will be taught by NCC’s contracted staff, validated and awarded by the UK’s University of Central Lancashire.

The institution disclosed that the application window for the programme will close on January 27, 2023 and tuition Fees for the programme is K450,000 per semester.

Learners will also be expected to pay £2100 registration and examination fees and this could be paid in two installments.

Among the computer programmes offered by the institution include NCC Education Level 4 Diploma in Computing, NCC Education Level 5 Diploma in Computing, NCC Education Level 5 Diploma in Computing with Cyber security, BSc (Hons) Business Computing and Information Systems and BSc (Hons) Cyber Security and Networking.

Malawi School of Government-Kanengo campus introduces Cyber Security course

LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-The newly rebranded Malawi School of Government (MSG), formerly Malawi Institute of Management (MIM)-Kanengo campus has introduced a degree in cyber security and networking.

The course is to capacitate government departments, security organs and the private sector against cyber attacks.

MSG has partnered the United Kingdom-based National Computer Centre (NCC) Education and the University of Central Lancashire to run the programme.

Addressing the press on Friday, January 20, 2023, MSG Kanengo campus, Acting Executive Director Dr. Jessie Kabwila said Malawi, like most African countries, is vulnerable to cyber attacks due to lack of personnel with qualifications in cyber security.

“Cyber security can be described as the collective methods, technologies, and processes to help protect computer systems, networks, data or information against cyber attacks or unauthorised access.

“By introducing this degree, we want to scale up government, security organs and private sector capacity to deal with cyber security,” excited Kabwila.

Kabwila said with this new programme, graduates will be able to help their organisations to reduce the risk of data breaches, malware infections and help secure data.

“This is the most sought-after computing qualification in the world. Learners will be equipped with the knowledge, technical and interpersonal skills necessary for taking part in the design, implementation, management and security of modern computers systems,” she said.

Echoing on the same, MSG Kanengo campus Head of External programmes Alex Chanza said the cyber security training will be delivered online through NCC education’s virtual learning environment by NCC contracted staff, and that it is validated and awarded by the University of Central Lancashire.

“Other related programmes in cyber security on offer are NCC Level 4 and Level 5 diplomas in computing. Level 5 Diploma is the qualification entry for one seeking to pursue bachelors of science in cyber security and networking.

“We also offer a BSc in Business Computing and information system also validated and awarded by the University of Central Lancashire,” he said.

Chanza said the application window for the course will close on January 27, 2023.
