LILONGWE Maravipost: United Democratic Front (UDF)Member of Parliament for Machinga East, Ester Jolobala, criticized Chakwera’s State of Nation address as being equivalent to Machinga District chairperson’s statement.
Khumbize Kandodo, the Deputy Leader of the House, requested the withdrawal of the statement due to its perceived defamation of the President’s office.
Making the ruling, the Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament asked Machinga East legislator to withdraw the statement, which she did.
According to Jolobala, Dr. Dzamalala was prevented by the government from conducting an autopsy on the death of Saulos Klaus Chilima.
Ned Poya, the leader of the United Democratic Front (UDF) in the house, proposed that Malawi Congress Party (MCP) members should not be the first to speak about respect in the house due to their history of spitting on Arthur Peter Muthalika.
Jappie Mhango, Deputy Chief Whip for the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), urged the speaker’s office to punish members who treat fellow party members with disrespect.
The Machinga East lawmaker was called stupid by High Education Minister Jessie Kabwila, prompting Mhango to make the remarks.
Moses Kunkuyu, the information minister, expressed his sadness over the Machinga East lawmaker’s presentation of the autopsy issue in the August House. The government paid the individuals he mentioned and provided receipts for their services in her presence.
