BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost )-Gold Mountain Music, led by veteran producer Tapps Bandawe, and Universal Music Group on Thursday signed a four-year deal for the rights to legendary musician Soldier Lucius Banda’s albums and music catalog.

The partnership also includes a seven-year administration deal, solidifying the collaboration between the two music giants.

In an interview with journalists,Bandawe expressed excitement over the deal, highlighting its importance in bringing Malawi’s richest music catalog to the global stage.

He expressed optimism that the partnership will open doors for Lucius’ music and Malawian artistry to feature in international films and other outlets.

On his part,Lucius’ son Johnny Zembani said the partnership aims to preserve his father’s legacy and musical works.

Lucius, who passed away last year, left an indelible mark on Malawi’s creative sector, with iconic albums like ‘Down Babylon,’ ‘Cease Fire’, ‘Cell 51,’ and ‘Unity.’
