Police arrest two for cyber spamming, impersonating Triephornia Mpinganjira’s Facebook account

LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-The Malawi Police Service (MPS) at Lingadzi station are keeping in custody two young men aged 24 for impersonating Triephonia Thomson Mpinganjira’s facebook account.

Lingadzi Police Station Deputy publicist Maria Kumwenda has identified the suspects as Amos Charles and Joel Salanda who were arrested on Monday, March 10, 2025.

Police Publicist Kumwenda told The Maravi Post that from January, 2025 Triephonia Mpinganjira who has been doing charity works in the country “Noted that some people are using and running facebook account pages bearing her name and posting her photos with intentions to steal from innocent Malawians”.

Kumwenda explains, “The two suspects allegedly created a fake account and have been deceiving people to send them money with false promises of assistance.

“The matter was reported to Lingadzi Police station where detectives used cyber intelligence to track down and apprehend the suspects”.

The Police Publicist adds, “The first suspect, Amos Charles was using an Airtel money account bearing the name of Janet Tembo for receiving money and he was arrested in Monkeybay while Joel was arrested in Mzuzu.

“The duo are expected to appear in court of law soon to answer the charges levelled against them while others are still being tracked down”.

Kumwenda appeals, “Police is advising social media users to strictly open their account with their legal names and not attacking others on social media platform”.

The suspects Charles hails from Traditional Authority (T.A) Nankumba, Mangochi district while Salanda hails from Tekha village (T.A) Chindi in Mzimba.

LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-In a bold move to uplift women in rural communities, Philanthropist Triephornia Mpinganjira has announced a groundbreaking initiative to support small-scale businesses led by women.

This decision comes after she witnessed firsthand the challenges women face while running micro-businesses during her Kuthandiza amene alibe kuthekera Project visits to rural areas.

“I saw the struggles these women endure just to keep their small businesses running,” Triephonia shared. “Many of them lack the capital to grow or even sustain their ventures. That inspired me to act.”

In response, she has allocated MK20 million to directly empower these women, providing MK500,000 to each participant to boost their businesses.

This initiative is targeted at bridging the gap for women entrepreneurs who often face financial barriers and limited access to resources in rural settings.

The project will run for two months, focusing on quick and impactful support. “This won’t be a long-term program.

“ut it’s a critical intervention to address immediate needs and give these women a fighting chance,” Triephonia added.

“Remain focused in business to transform Malawi better”-Philanthropist Triephornia Mpinganjira dares 34 upcoming entrepreneurs

LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-Businesswoman and philanthropist Triephornia Mpinganjira has challenged 34 upcoming intrapreneurs to make use of funds given” and change Malawi for the better.

Mpinganjira therefore pledged to continue supporting the youth in knowledge and entrepreneurship to assist in attaining the country’s development aspirations.

She made the remarks in Lilongwe on Friday, August 30, 2024, during the grand finale of her ‘Kuthandiza Omwe Alibe Kuthekera Kupita Patsogolo’ project.

Mpinganjira added that through the initiative the initiative they have awarded MK34 million to 34 young people who submitted different business ideas which will uplift their lives.

“If you have chosen the entrepreneurship path then be focused and strong as it’s not an easy road to breakthroughs. Use the funds for intended projects that improve your welfare, others, and Malawi,” dares Mpinganjira.

She however lauded Credible Investment Limited (CIL) for partnering with her saying “What matters is the zeal to support young people to do better in life. Your support (CIL) has reached two beneficiaries who were not budgeted for”.

Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Youth and Sports Isaac Katopola has hailed Mpinganjira for the effort in supporting the youth.

One of the beneficiaries Hawa Shabir assured of making use of the funds to achieve her dreams of becoming a successful entrepreneur.

Credible Investment Limited partnered with Mpinganjira with MK2 million in the project to reach out to two young entrepreneurs.

Renowned lawyer Wapona Kita and business tycoon Napoleon Dzombe and successful young ICT expert Mayamiko Mkoloma were among the speakers at the event which attracted over 100 delegates.
