LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-In its charitable quest, Rotary Club of Lilongwe City Centre (RCLCC) over the Weekend hosted golf tournament to raise funds for the new Ukwe Health Centre’s maternity wing structure.
Ukwe Health Center which is located in rural Lilongwe.
The maternity wing will ease maternal and infant deaths and complications during delivery.
In an interview with The Maravi Post after the golf tourney at Lilongwe Golf Club, RCLCC’s Immediate Past President Tisayiwe Sikwese said the club plans to raise over MK10 million for maternity wing construction.
Sikwese adds, “We want a new maternity wing at Ukwe Health Center as the facility has only two beds for delivery which is not healthy for unborn babies and mothers. This is the reason we are into fundraising drive including Golf tourney”.
Ukwe Health Centre’s Nursing Officer Lignet Nseu lauded the club for always being supportive of uplifting the facility’s quality health services.
Nseu expects the funds to be used for intended purposes.
She therefore appealed to other well-wishers to emulate the club’s gesture.
