LOS ANGELES-(MaraviPost)-Brock Lesnar, the WWE superstar, has apparently retired from professional wrestling, bringing an end to a career spanning over two decades.
The emotional moment unfolded at WrestleMania 42, where Lesnar lost to Oba Femi in the opening match of Night 2 at Allegiant Stadium.
Lesnar’s retirement was symbolized by his decision to leave his gloves and boots in the center of the ring, a traditional gesture of farewell in combat sports.
The crowd erupted in a “Thank you, Lesnar!” chant as he departed, sharing an emotional moment with his longtime advocate, Paul Heyman.
The match itself was a poignant end to Lesnar’s illustrious career, with Femi securing the win with a powerbomb after kicking out of an F5.
Lesnar’s emotional response to the loss was evident, as he removed his gloves and boots, and hugged Heyman, visibly overcome with emotion.
Lesnar’s WWE debut was in 2000, and he went on to become one of the most dominant forces in the sport.
His retirement marks the end of an era, with fans and fellow wrestlers paying tribute to his legacy.
The news has sent shockwaves through the wrestling world, with many taking to social media to express their gratitude and admiration for Lesnar’s contributions to the sport.
Lesnar’s decision to retire comes after a career marked by incredible highs, including multiple championship wins and memorable matches.
His legacy will undoubtedly be remembered for years to come.
Several celebrities have expressed shock over President Donald Trump’s comments about Rob Reiner in the wake of the director’s death alongside his wife, Michele Singer Reiner.
Rob, 78, and Michele, 68, were found dead in their home in Los Angeles on Sunday, December 14. Us Weekly later confirmed that the couple’s 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, was arrested on a murder charge and held without bail. (He has since been charged with two counts of first-degree murder.)
“A very sad thing happened last night in Hollywood. Rob Reiner, a tortured and struggling, but once very talented movie director and comedy star, has passed away, together with his wife, Michele, reportedly due to the anger he caused others through his massive, unyielding, and incurable affliction with a mind crippling disease known as TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME, sometimes referred to as TDS,” Trump wrote.
He continued of Rob, “He was known to have driven people CRAZY by his raging obsession of President Donald J. Trump, with his obvious paranoia reaching new heights as the Trump Administration surpassed all goals and expectations of greatness, and with the Golden Age of America upon us, perhaps like never before. May Rob and Michele rest in peace!”
After receiving backlash for his statement from Republican officials including Thomas Massie and Marjorie Taylor Greene, Trump later doubled down on his comments when asked by a reporter if he stood by his stance.
“Well, I wasn’t a fan of his at all,” Trump responded. “He was a deranged person as far as Trump is concerned.”
Trump added that Reiner was “bad for our country” because he was outspoken against the administration.
Many stars, including Josh Gad, Patrick Schwarzenegger and more, have publicly criticized the president’s statements about Rob and Michele. Wrestler Mick Foley even denounced his affiliation with the WWE amid its continued support of Trump.

Retired wrestler Mick Foley announced via Instagram that he was severing ties with the WWE amid their alleged backing of Trump in recent months. Foley revealed that Trump’s “incredibly cruel comments in the wake of Rob Reiner’s death” were “the final straw for me.”
“I no longer wish to represent a company that coddles a man so seemingly void of compassion as he marches our country towards autocracy,” Foley wrote of WWE. “Last night, I informed @WWE talent relations that I would not be making any appearances for the company as long as this man remains in office.”
He noted he would “not be signing a new Legends deal” with the company when his expires in June 2026, either.

Ana Navarro
The View cohost Ana Navarro slammed Trump during Monday’s episode of the talk show.
“At a time when so many in the media industry, so many with a platform are afraid to speak, he put his money and his mouth where his heart was and for Trump to have put that out today, I’m gonna say it: You know, damn it, there’s an American family grieving,” she said. “This is a tragedy, not just for the family, but for all who knew and loved him, and for the President of the United States to make this about him as a way to attack Rob Reiner, because he exercised his American right to speak up with what he disagreed with, is shameful. It is disgraceful. And of all the disgusting things that Donald Trump has done, this is right up there.”
Whoopi Goldberg
While discussing Rob and Michele’s deaths with her cohosts on The View, Whoopi Goldberg recalled the death of far-right political activist Charlie Kirk in September. “I don’t understand the man in the White House. He spoke at length about Charlie Kirk and about caring, and then this is what he puts out. Have you no shame? No shame at all? Can you get any lower? I don’t think so,” she said.
Mia Farrow
Actress Mia Farrow took to Threads to write, “Rob Reiner will always be remembered for the truly wonderful films he gave us, and for his kindness and warmth, his humor, his love for his country. Trump will be remembered for his greed, selfishness, corruption, cruelty, his vengeance & for trying to destroy the best of America.”
Jimmy Kimmel called Trump’s comments “hateful and vile” during Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Monday night.
“What we need in a time like this, besides common sense when it comes to guns and mental healthcare, is compassion and leadership,” Kimmel said. “We did not get that from our president because he has none of it to give … Just when you think he can’t go any lower, he somehow finds a way to do that.”
He continued, “Blaming [Rob’s] death on the fact that he is an outspoken liberal, insulting someone who’s just been murdered, who leaves children behind without having any idea of what actually happened, it’s so hateful and vile. When I first saw it, I thought it was fake. My wife showed it to me this morning; I was like, ‘Well, even for him, that’d seem like too much.’ But nothing is ever too much for him.”
Seth Meyers
Seth Meyers said Trump’s statement on Rob and Michele was “even worse than I could have imagined” while reflecting on the news on his late night show.
“Rob was no fan of the president, and because of that, the president was no fan of Rob’s,” he said. “Just about 12 hours after Rob and Michele had been murdered in their own home, he wanted to take the opportunity to go on social media and post his thoughts about this tragedy. I feared this was something he was going to do, and I was pretty certain that it would cast a shadow on what was already a really dark day, but it was even worse than I could have imagined.”

Mick Foley is severing ties with WWE amid the company’s alleged support of President Donald Trump, calling the president’s recent comments about the late Rob Reiner the “last straw.”
Foley, 60, announced his decision to part ways with WWE on Tuesday, December 16, explaining via Instagram that he’s been “concerned” about the WWE’s “close relationship with Donald Trump for several months.”
The retired wrestler said his concerns grew “in light of [the Trump] administration’s ongoing cruel and inhumane treatment of immigrants (and pretty much anyone who ‘looks like an immigrant’).”
The turning point, however, came after Foley said he read the president’s “incredibly cruel comments in the wake of Rob Reiner’s death,” stating it “is the final straw for me.”
Us Weekly later confirmed that the couple’s 32-year-old son Nick Reiner was arrested on a murder charge and held without bail. On Tuesday, the Los Angeles District Attorney’s office announced that Nick was officially charged with two counts of first-degree murder and could be facing life in prison without parole or the death penalty, should he be found guilty.
As Hollywood mourned the deaths of the director and his longtime spouse, who were 78 and 68, respectively, Trump, 79, issued a statement that seemingly pointed Rob’s alleged problems with him as the reason he was killed.

Us Weekly has reached out to WWE for comment.
Foley is a retired professional wrestler, comedian and author. During his time in the arena, Foley went by Cactus Jack from 1991 to 1996. He famously wore cowboy books and used items such as barbed wire during his matches.
He made his WWE debut in 1996 as Mankind, taking on the ring persona of Dude Love the following year. Cactus Jack made his return in 1997 as well and Foley fought as all three during 1998’s Royal Rumble.
The four-time world champion was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2013, one year after retiring from wrestling. Foley, however, has maintained his affiliation with WWE, working as the Raw General Manager from 2016 to 2017 and making appearances on WWE Raw for years.
Trump, meanwhile, has had a longstanding relationship with the WWE, namely former CEO and Chairman of the Board Vince McMahon, who resigned in 2024 after allegations of sexual assault. (McMahon has denied the allegations and the federal prosecutors dropped the criminal investigation in February.)
Prior to becoming president, Trump made several appearances on WWE programs and was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2013 as a celebrity honoree.
Currently, WWE Chief Content Officer Paul Michael Levesque — known as Triple H — serves as part of the president’s fitness council.

Charlotte Flair’s bra top was clearly no match for her impressive wrestling moves.
During her Friday, November 7, SmackDown face-off with Nia Jax, Flair, 39, rocked a bedazzled white bra with matching bikini bottoms, thigh-high silver boots and a feathery overcoat. Flair, however, was seen adjusting her top on multiple occasions, right before the cameras cut to black for a split second.
“Did Charlotte Flair have a ‘wardrobe malfunction?’” a social media user wrote via X on Friday, which the wrestling pro ultimate retweeted onto her account.
Flair jokingly added, “I’m going to start wrestling in the robes.”
While Flair could laugh off the wardrobe mishap, she came up just shy of victory in the ring. Jax, 41, ultimately defeated Flair with the help of newbie wrestler Lash Legend.
Flair has performed with WWE since 2012, winning 14 titles to date.
“Being a spokesperson for the SmackDown’s women’s division is a full-time job,” she exclusively told Us Weekly in 2023. “It’s no secret WWE Superstars live out of suitcases and in hotels. I’m currently on the road [over] 275 days a year with no off-season.”
Before and after each match, Flair will give her commentary on ringside antics.

“Often, before going live on Friday Night SmackDown, I have a pre-match interview promoting the match or segment for that night,” she explained to Us. “You can watch me every Friday night tapping women out.”
Flair sustained a severe knee injury in December 2023, forcing her to sit out the 2024 season to recover. She returned to the ring earlier this year.
“It really kicked my ass. But, it gave me perspective, time and clarity, and it made me realize that I still would choose [life as a wrestler] again and again and again,” Flair told the U.K.’s Stylist in February, noting she wanted a low-key look for her WWE return. “On my first night back, I really wanted to try more lightweight make-up because I prefer no make-up when I’m outside of the ring. I did a lightweight foundation but realized I was very dewy on camera.”
She continued, “As the weeks have gone by, I’ve literally tried something different every week, like adding a pop of color or more highlighter. What I’ve come to realize is that what I really like is a matte look with a pop of color on the eyes specifically. Also, I love sparkle, especially when paired with the gear and the robes.”
Flair further stressed that her skin is a top priority, telling the magazine that she’s a self-proclaimed “skincare junkie.”
“I use retinol, and some days, my make-up artist points out that I’m peeling slightly. If I’ve overdone it, I’ll sleep in Eucerin’s Aquaphor Soothing Skin Balm, and I often do it the night before a show,” she said. “You know in Mrs Doubtfire, when [Robin Williams] puts the pie on his face? That’s what I look like when my face is smothered in Aquaphor. But, it really does the job and helps with the flaking, and I know my make-up artist appreciates it.”
As for her hair, Flair returned to the ring with a twist on her typically blonde tresses.
“I really wanted to come back with a different look, and so I opted for this ombré finish,” she told the outlet. “I have sew-in extensions, and it has been a nightmare to get them to match, but it’s a process. I’ll see where [the color] ends up.”

The WWE has always been about exciting matches, shocking moments and larger than life characters. From the company’s early days with the likes of Hulk Hogan to the gritty times of the Attitude Era to the modern day where smaller, more athletic stars like AJ Styles, Seth Rollins and Kofi Kingston lead the way.
But for as long as professional wrestling has been around, there have been those few moments that stand out from the rest. These moments were so brutal, so shocking that the audience, those in the arena and those watching at home have been left with their jaws’ dropped.
Those moments have been so brutal, we often wondered how WWE got away with them. Here are five truly brutal moments we still can’t believe WWE allowed to show. We will do a quick round down of five scenarios below:
Bubba VS Young
Bubba demolished the legendary women’s wrestler for two weeks on RAW.
Bubba demolished the legendary women’s wrestler for two weeks on RAW.
Though Mae Young is sadly no longer with us, the legendary Superstar’s legacy continues on. The namesake of the company’s annual women’s competition, Mae was also a former Women’s Champion, and wrestled across nine decades, from the 1930s to the 2010s.
In 2000 though, at the spry age of 77, Mae came across the Dudley Boyz, with Bubba Ray having a tendency for powerbombing women.
In one of the most shocking moments in RAW history, the future TNA World Champion powerbombed Mae off the entrance ramp through a table.
Despite the stunt obviously being a huge risk for her, Mae was thrilled about the idea, in stark contrast to Bubba backstage who was worried for her safety.
And the most shocking thing: Bubba didn’t do this once. He did it twice!
Edge VS Foley
Edge and Foley showed just how hardcore they were at WrestleMania 22.
Edge and Foley showed just how hardcore they were at WrestleMania 22.
The Attitude Era was easily the most hardcore time in WWE history, but by 2006, the company was very different. Instead of Hardcore matches, shows were more about the spectacle, with names like John Cena, Randy Orton and Rey Mysterio ruling the year.
Despite this though, at WrestleMania 22, Edge and Mick Foley showed that the ideas of old were alive and well when they competed in a Hardcore match.
After Edge blamed Foley for costing him the WWE Championship, the bout was a war, with thumbtacks, chairs and even a barb wired-clad Mr. Socko.
The most iconic moment of the match came at its climax, as Edge speared Foley through a flaming table to the outside, and though both men were horrifically burned, it was the Rated-R Superstar who emerged from the flames as the victor.
Kurt Angle VS Chris Benoit.
Kurt Angle is one of the greatest to ever enter a WWE ring. Though his name is not held in the same lofty esteem as The Rock or ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin, the Olympian’s incredible in-ring ability and charisma helped immensely during the Monday Night Wars.
In one iconic moment from RAW, Angle took on Chris Benoit in a Steel Cage match, a match-type foreign to both men. Climbing the cage, it seemed Kurt had the match won, until he stunned everyone watching with a death-defying moonsault from the top.
Unfortunately for Kurt, this would be his downfall as Benoit would roll out of the way, leaving Angle hitting the mat face first. A shocking moment in an incredible match, you won’t be seeing something like this anytime soon.
Shane McMahon VS The Miz
McMahon fell far at Summerslam 2000
Shane McMahon is worth a fortune, but you wouldn’t know it by the way he treats his body. Entering the ring as a wrestler in 1998, McMahon has been part of some iconic moments in wrestling, so many that it’s hard to pick just one.
Look at his death-defying fall (backwards I might add!) from the titantron at Summerslam 2000, or his war less than a year later at the King of the Ring 2001 event, when he was thrown though glass not once, but twice.
Even in recent years, McMahon has shown he is the same daredevil fans love, with his first match back in 2016 being a war in, out, and on top the Hell in a Cell structure against The Undertaker?
And his recent bout with The Miz at WrestleMania 35 is just the latest in a long line of OMG moments.
Undertaker VS Mankind
The infamous Hell in a Cell match between Undertaker and Mankind at King of the Ring 1998 continues to be ingrained in the minds of fans over 20 years later.
In case you’ve been living under a rock for the past two decades, the match is forever remembered when the Deadman, mere minutes into the bout, threw Foley off the top of the cell, with Mick crashing onto the tables below.
A truly shocking moment that led many to believe they had seen Foley’s life be snuffed out, Mick somehow continued, and was thrown through the cell roof later, bouncing off the hard mat.
A true must-watch match, there’s a reason why fans still talk about it with awe all these years later.
