The Board of the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. George Munyaradzi Manyaya as Chief Executive Officer, effective 1 February 2026.
Dr. Manyaya brings strong academic credentials, strategic leadership, and extensive multisectoral experience. He holds a Doctorate in Business Management, a Master of Science in International Relations Degree, Masters Degree in Strategic Management and Corporate Governance and is a holder of a Bachelors Degree in Business Management. Furthermore he has professional qualifications in Mass Communication, Diplomacy and Regulation.
He has served across key tourism-enabling sectors including aviation, transport, telecommunications, energy, mining, banking, and the United Nations system (IOM), gaining deep insight into tourism development, infrastructure, investment, and stakeholder coordination.
A recognised marketing and communications strategist, Dr. Manyaya joins ZTA from ZESA Holdings, where he was General Manager responsible for Marketing, Communications, and Stakeholder Relations. He serves and has previously served on several boards in both the public and private sectors. He is also Chairman of ZINARA, where he has led successful rebranding, governance, and modernisation initiatives.
He was appointed Tourism Brand Ambassador and served on the Organising Committee of the 2013 UNWTO General Assembly, successfully co-hosted by Zimbabwe and Zambia.
Dr. Manyaya’s mandate includes positioning Zimbabwe as a competitive tourist destination, driving tourism development, enforcing industry standards, generating tourism intelligence, coordinating stakeholders, and facilitating sustainable investment for national growth.

Minister Barbara Rwodzi Announces New Boards for ZTA and Mosi-Oa-Tunya Development Company

To further strengthen effective Corporate Governance,
Accountability and Transparency, the Minister of Tourism and Hospitality
Industry Hon Barbara Rwodzi, has announced the appointment of new Board Members
for the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) and the Mosi-Oa-Tunya Development
Company (Pvt) Limited, in line with the Constitution of Zimbabwe, the Public
Entities Corporate Governance Act and the Tourism Act. The appointments come at
a time when Zimbabwe’s Tourism sector is experiencing sustained growth, increased
global recognition and rising investor confidence, positioning Tourism as a key
driver of National Development.

The newly appointed Boards bring extensive experience and
expertise that will provide strategic guidance and effective oversight to
advance the Ministry’s Tourism mandate. The Mosi-Oa-Tunya Development Company
Board will focus on accelerating Tourism Infrastructure development and
facilitating Investment in Victoria Falls, while the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority
Board will strengthen destination promotion, enhance service delivery and
uphold regulatory frameworks that add value to Tourists and support industry
growth. These efforts will enhance Tourism’s contribution to GDP, strengthen
Zimbabwe’s global image and support the implementation of NDS 2, in line with
the Vision 2030 agenda of the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe, His
Excellency Cde. Dr. E.D. Mnangagwa, of attaining an Upper Middle-Income Economy
by 2030.

Zimbabwe Tourism Investment Forum

The Zimbabwe Tourism Investment Forum kicked off today at Golden Peacock in Mutare as a precursor to the Sanganai/Hlanganani Kumbanayi Tourism Expo 2025, running under the theme “Unlocking Tourism Investment Opportunities for Local Economic Development.” In her keynote address, delivered by the Deputy Minister Hon Tongai M. Mnangagwa, the Minister of Tourism and Hospitality Industry Hon. Barbara Rwodzi emphasized tourism as a catalyst for economic diversification, provincial empowerment and national transformation towards Vision 2030.
The event also graced by the Minister of State for Manicaland Provincial Affairs & Devolution Hon. Misheck Mugadza brought together Government Leaders, Investors and Industry Experts to discuss tourism funding, the development of Provincial Tourism Master Plans, Branding and Public-Private Partnerships. The forum reaffirmed Zimbabwe’s commitment to attracting investment and unlocking opportunities in Manicaland and beyond.

Buyers from across all provinces kicked off their Pre-Sanganai/Hlanganani Kumbanayi Tourism Expo Tours in Nyanga

Local Tourism Companies (Buyers) from across all provinces kicked off their Pre-Sanganai/Hlanganani Kumbanayi Tourism Expo Tours in Nyanga with site inspections at Mountain Lakes Lodge and Montclair Resort as part of efforts to package and market the Eastern Highlands as a must-visit destination. Their programme also included a tour of Nyanga National Park, highlighting Mount Nyangani, Zimbabwe’s highest peak at 2,593m above sea level, which offers breathtaking views of the region’s natural beauty. Within the park, the group explored Nyamuziwa Falls, which originates from Mount Nyangani, as well as the ancient Pit Structures that add to the area’s mystique. To round off the experience, they also visited the Rhodes Nyanga Museum.

A group of nine companies (International Buyers) from India is in Zimbabwe for the Sanganai/Hlanganani Kumbanayi Tourism Expo, participating in tours across the breathtaking Eastern Highlands and experiencing highlights such as World’s View, Nyamuziwa Falls and Mt Nyangani, while encountering wildlife like wildebeest in Nyanga National Park. Their familiarization tour includes visits to premier hospitality establishments such as Troutbeck Resort, Montclaire, and Mountain Lakes, offering firsthand insight into the region’s accommodations.

Zimbabwe stole the spotlight in a blaze of colour, flavor and rhythm at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris

Zimbabwe stole the spotlight in a blaze of colour, flavour and rhythm on Tuesday at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris during Africa Week, captivating global delegates with a powerful cultural showcase. The First Lady of the Republic of Zimbabwe and Patron of Tourism, Dr. Auxillia Mnangagwa, undertook a tour of awe-inspiring exhibitions and led a distinguished visit to the Zimbabwean stand, accompanied by the Minister of Tourism and Hospitality Industry Hon. Barbara Rwodzi and Zimbabwe’s Ambassador to France Dr. Sekai Nzenza.
The Zimbabwe stand burst to life with vibrant traditional dances, melodic instruments and striking fashion, but it was the irresistible gastronomy that sparked a frenzy. Guests lined up to savour signature Zimbabwean dishes such as sorghum sadza, Kariba bream, Zim gastro sausage, haifiridzi, madora and peanut butter biltong, while traditional beverages like seven days brew and maheu refreshed and delighted. The Zimbabwean stand quickly became the heartbeat of the event, its warmth and authenticity leaving a lasting imprint on every visitor. As part of her cultural diplomacy efforts, the First Lady also toured other African country exhibitions including Tanzania, Sudan, Nigeria, Niger, Uganda, Mozambique, Mauritius, Ethiopia, Guinea, Ghana, Gabon, Mali, Comoros, Congo Brazzaville and Angola. The strong showing by Zimbabwe reaffirmed the nation’s position as a leading cultural and culinary tourism destination in Africa.
