Unima’s congregation slated for 19th November, Mutharika to grace occasion

The University of Malawi is pleased to announce its Congregation that will be held on Wednesday, 19th November, 2014 in The Great Hall at Chancellor College, Zomba starting from 8.00 a.m.

His Excellency the State President, Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika, shall in accordance with the University of Malawi Act be inaugurated as Chancellor of the University of Malawi and thereafter preside over the Congregation.

Academic awards will be conferred to candidates from the following programmes:

Rehearsals for the Congregation will be held on Tuesday, 18th November, 2014 starting from 8.30 a.m. in the Great Hall at Chancellor College in Zomba. Graduating students are asked to be punctual and only those who will attend the rehearsal ceremony shall be allowed to graduate.

ACADEMIC DRESS

Academic dress for the Congregation shall be available for hire from Monday, 17th November, 2014 from respective colleges or at the venue of the Congregation on Tuesday, 18th November, 2014. The hire charges are as follows:

Diploma/Certificate K3, 400

Bachelors Set K4, 100

Masters Set K20, 000

PhD Set K25, 000

All candidates must return their academic dress at the end of the function. Unreturned academic dress will attract a penalty fee of K5, 000 for the first day delay. Each subsequent day after the first day shall attract a penalty fee of K200 which shall be payable before the release of the certificate.

CANDIDATES WITH COLLEGE DEBTS

Candidates who owe the college money will not be allowed to graduate.

PHOTOGRAPHIC SERVICES

Candidates who require photography services will be informed about the details of the accredited photographers during rehearsals.4

INVITATION CARDS AND ATTENDANCE

Candidates should contact respective Colleges for invitation cards of their guardians or parents.

OTHER CONGREGATIONS

The University further wishes to inform students and the general public that other congregations shall be held on 3rd December, 2014 and 28th January, 2015. Details of these congregations shall be released in due course.
