Public Appointment Committee to sanction Malawi Speaker on adamant legislators on assets Declaration

LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-Public Appointment Committee (PAC) of Malawi Parliament is yet to  write to the speaker on the stand of the committee on the Members of Parliament (MPs) that have not declare their assets till date.

PAC Chair Joyce Chitsulo told the August house on Wednesday, February 9, 2022 that the delay of the said members is total negligence as they were summoned by the committee to hear their side.

Chitsulo said during the meeting with the members some claim not to be aware while some claim to forget but till date no one has gone to declare their assets.

She said the committee will decides whether to remove the said members on their seats for breach of law.

Legislators are suppose to declare their assets soon after the swearing in of their positions to the August house.

The office of the speaker will be expected to decide the fate of the adamant members on the matter soon.
