LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-FRT Holdings Limited (FHL), is subsidiary of Farm Radio Trust (FRT) is geared up to roll out fully fledged Station for transformative agriculture programmes targeting farmers.
The radio station roll out comes barely four months after successful testing of programming with viable frequencies is some part of the country.
The radio station is now fully operational, reaching more than 15 districts in the central, eastern and northern parts of Malawi.
Addressing the news conference on Tuesday, March 21, at its main studio, Area 47 in the capital Lilongwe, Farm Radio Trust’ Chief Executive Officer (CEO) George Vilili disclosed that as a national radio station is to reach every part of Malawi and provide digital Agriculture extension services.
Vilili added that the station is committed to providing up-to-date and accurate information to farmers for sustainable livelihoods.
“We currently have a transmission site in Mzuzu on 104.1 MHz FM, in Nkhotakota Mlimi Radio is on 89.6 MHz and in Mangochi is on 87.7 MHz.
“As you have noted, we are not covering in some of the districts and also in the major cities like Blantyre and Lilongwe, this is so because we are still waiting from MACRA to provide frequencies for these districts and as soon as we are given, we will be installing our transmitters,” assures Vilili.
He added, “Mlimi Radio is offering a wide range of services, including airing of radio programs, production of special programs, documentaries, adverts, promos and jingles, covering news and current affairs, and we are dedicated to providing our clients with the highest level of quality and customer service.
“We are continually working to improve our services and stay at the forefront of radio broadcasting industry in Malawi”.
The minister president of the government of Flanders Belgium Gon Jambon Government of Flanders is expected to grace the radio station launch on Saturday, March 25, 2023 in the capital Lilongwe.
The Flanders government is the strategic partner of Farm Radio Trust.
Both Ministers of Agriculture and Information Sam Kawale and Moses Kumkuyu are expected to be part of the radio station launch.
