LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-Otolaryngologist doctors on Ear, Nose, Throat (ENT) conditions are in the country to work on patients living in those conditions with a target location being Mtunthama Kasungu District.
The doctors expect to help patients from the district and surrounding areas for free reaching out to 250-300 people per day.
The outreach will be done at St Andrews Mission Hospital on 20th May, Bua Health Center on Tuesday 21st May and Kasungu District Hospital on Wednesday 22 May, 2024.
In an interview with Maravi Post on Saturday soon after the arrival at Kamuzu International Airport (KIA) in Lilongwe representative for the Doctors, Norah Stuart said the doctors are coming from USA under Ethoes and Hears for Call following the group member’s, mostly from those working as private health practitioners at their hospitals.
She said the Doctors are in the country in collaboration with ABC through the Deputy Speaker Speaker of Parliament who is also Member of Parliament for Kasungu West, Madalitso Kazombo.
In an separate interview with Kazombo said 1000 people are treated with ear problems per day in Kasungu district which is equal to other districts.
He therefore advised people in Kasungu and the sorrounding to bring friends and families who have the challenges.
“Malawian Doctors who are based in other countries should learn from these foreign Doctors by taking their holidays and assist their own country,” urged Kazombo.
ABC, Otolaryngologist Blessings Mvula, explained that started the partnership with Ethoes and Hear for Call which is non profitable organization to curb the hearing impearment.
He said out of 20 children 11 of them have the challenge of hearing impearment in the country.
“It will be a pleasure for other organizations to come in to work with ABC to help the vulnerable community with hearing ,nose and throat problems as it is a big problem country wide” ,said Mvula.
