UTM’s Robert Russell Gerald Kaemba Mugala Banda, popularly known as Russell Gerald, a parliamentary aspirant is in trouble.
Five individuals have lodged new complaints of car theft against Russell Gerald, a UTM parliamentary aspirant.
According to the police, Gerald allegedly conspired with his accomplice, Emily Lungu, to deceive people into lending their vehicles, which were then used as collateral to secure loans from lending institutions.
Lingadzi Station Officer Israel Kwalila confirmed that the new complaints would lead to additional charges against Gerald. The suspect is already facing charges related to previous complaints.
Gerald’s modus operandi involved “borrowing” vehicles from unsuspecting owners, only to use them for financial gain.
This modus operandi is similar to that of other suspects recently apprehended by the police in connection with a string of car thefts and break-ins in the city.
