BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost )-Human Rights Consultative Committee (HRCC) Board Chairperson Robert Mkwezalamba says a meeting between Malawi and representatives from COMESA, the African Union(AU), and Zambia regarding Malawi’s recent import ban will be crucial in determining the country’s adherence to international trade agreements.
In an interview with Maravi Post ,Mkwezalamba emphasized the meeting’s significance, saying it offers Malawi an opportunity to demonstrate its commitment to regional trade accords.
The Malawian government imposed a temporary import ban last month, prompting retaliatory threats from countries such as Tanzania if the ban is not lifted by the upcoming deadline.
