.….Open letter to Malawians…..

My Fellow Malawians,

At this historic juncture in our democratic journey, I wish to extend my deepest gratitude and heartfelt reflections.

First and foremost, I express my sincere appreciation to His Excellency Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera for displaying true statesmanship by conceding defeat with grace and dignity, and by taking deliberate steps to ensure a peaceful transition of power. In so doing, he has safeguarded the integrity of our democracy and reminded us that genuine leadership is not measured by the length of time one clings to power, but by the willingness to honour the will of the people.

Elections are but a chapter in the broader story of our nation. What matters most now is that we rise above division and embrace one another as one people—united by our shared hopes, our shared struggles, and our shared destiny. Let us work hand in hand to build a Malawi where no citizen is left behind, and where progress belongs to all.

I am personally indebted to President Chakwera for the trust he placed in me. Under his leadership, I was privileged to serve Malawians first as Minister of Trade and Industry and later as Minister of Finance. It was the highest honour to serve both my President and my country in such significant portfolios, and I will forever carry that experience with humility and pride.

To the people of Kasungu South, I owe a special debt of gratitude for re-electing me as your Member of Parliament. Your confidence in me is not taken lightly. I pledge to continue serving you with dedication, to advance the development initiatives already underway, and to champion new opportunities that uplift the lives of all our people. Together, we shall keep pressing forward toward greater progress and sustainable livelihoods.

To Malawians at large, I make this solemn commitment: as I return to Parliament, I will serve as a constructive voice—providing oversight, offering checks and balances, and ensuring that the aspirations of our people are never forgotten. Our democracy thrives when every voice is heard and every perspective respected, and I will faithfully play my part in advancing that noble cause.

Finally, I extend my warmest congratulations to His Excellency Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika on his resounding electoral victory. Every leadership comes from God, and we must, therefore, respect His divine will. As Scripture reminds us: “Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God” (Romans 13:1). I pray that God grants Professor Mutharika wisdom, strength, and clarity of vision as he assumes the highest office once again. May his leadership unite us, heal divisions, and guide our beloved nation into a future of peace and prosperity.

For we believe in the philosophy of One Malawi, One People, and One Nation. It is my hope that all Malawians will reflect with sobriety and look to the future with hope—for a better Malawi.
