At a press conference held today in Lilongwe, Malawi’s Vice President and UTM party leader, Dr. Saulos Chilima, has shown why he is a serious, credible and best candidate among all the presidential candidates. While the main theme of the press conference was to denounce the current wave of political violence and intimidation, what Malawians have seen is a Vice President who has stepped up to lead Malawi into a free and fair election.
Having seen the sorry leadership of President Peter Mutharika, who among many failures, has failed to take solid leadership against violence and intimidation, Chilima has quickly filled the leadership vacuum deliberately created by a crooked person who Malawians trusted with protection among other things.
The examples on violence given by Chilima are just a few among many perpetrated by DPP thugs. There are many cases of DPP cadets getting away with terror. These thugs are untouchable. The police fear them. The police are also victims but they simply can’t send these thugs to jail. DPP cadets are untouchable because the ultimate powers to arrest them lies in the hands of Peter Mutharika. The terrorists are working on behalf of DPP and Mutharika, the police can’t touch them.
A few weeks ago DPP cadets went to Kawale Police Station in Lilongwe to demand release of their friend. They harassed and stoned police officers. Such is is the powerlessness of the police when it comes to DPP’s violence. As rightly said by Chilima the police are quick to take orders from DPP to arrest opposition members. When the police arrest opposition members, we are told it’s because they didn’t respect the law of the land. But when DPP cadets terrorize innocent citizens, the police just look away and calls for respecting laws are never heard.
DPP thugs call themselves Ana a dadi or Peter Mutharika’s children in order to get away with terror. Last year at the official opening of the National Budget Meeting, Ana a dadi caused havoc. In the presence of Mutharika, they harassed Members of Parliament and blocked them from accessing Parliament building. They also harassed journalists. No one arrested them. After that incident, the thugs’ ringleader, was promoted by Mutharika within DPP!
Evidence shows Peter Mutharika is in charge of the violence and intimidation. In the last cabinet reshuffle Mutharika appointed Nicholas Dausi as the Minister of Homeland Security. Nicholas Dausi was trained by the notorious Malawi Young Pioneers (MYP) which were the paramilitary wing of the Malawi Congress Party (MCP). He has wide experience in clandestine activities.
In the same cabinet reshuffle, the president appointed Charles Mchacha as Dausi’s deputy. He was rewarded for being foul mouthed. The wave of political violence and intimidation has peaked with the appointment of these two shameless gangsters. They are doing the work that Mutharika employed them to do.
Their appointment showed Mutharika’s mediocrity, crookedness and evil intentions. He likes these gangsters because with his miserable performance as President for the five years, he can’t win under a free and fair election. He wants to use violence and intimidation to win elections.
On the political violence, Mutharika just issued a statement condemning the violence that his party is carrying out. No action. Just empty words for show. Mutharika has lied to Malawians for far too long for us to believe his empty statements. He is an accomplished hypocrite! DPP under his leadership is continuing violent acts.
Intimidation of opposition members coming after his reconciliatory New Year’s Day address and the empty press release on violence leaves no room for doubt that Mutharika is a liar and hypocrite. Malawians should never trust this old and frail crook. His manifestation of lies is a warning to voters that Mutharika’s promises should not be taken seriously.
Chilima’s strong words against political violence and intimidation have come just at the right time when Malawi needs strong leadership to avoid election tragedy. Chilima’s courage and fearlessness must be applauded. With UTM being the biggest victim of political violence and intimidation, the easiest way would have been to succumb to intimidation by the DPP terror machine. But being a fearless leader and someone who loves his country, Chilima has chosen to speak up and let Mutharika know that he will not get away with violence and intimidation.

Well said, but the DPP camp thinks Mutharika is doing well by just having podium talk. TOTAL HYPOCRISY
