Following the consistence loss in the Malawi Super League, the Moyale Barracks Football Club (FC) which is the oldest TNM Super League team from Malawi’s Northern region has deployed two of its coaches to Karonga United FC in order to help it survive in the league.
According to Moyale Coach Collins Nkuna, the two deployed coaches are Gift Banda, goalkeeper trainer and Wakisa Mwambetanya. Playing the parental role, Nkuna disclosed that their aim is to make sure that the region has a good number of teams in the country’s top flight league.
“We have indeed deployed two of Moyale FC experts to Karonga United with the aim of strengthening it.
“Karonga United has good players but are inexperienced as most of them have not been in super league, so we believe that this development will boost the team,” he said.
In his remarks during a training session, Mwambetanya asked the Karonga United fans and players to give them support.
However, some quarters have described the team’s future in the league as uncertain especially after failing to win a game out of 6 games played so far.
Karonga United chairperson Alufeyo Banda backed his team saying “it will remain in the league
while describing their start as good.”
He said his boys have now gained a little experience with the few games played and that people should expect results in the next assignments.
Karonga United are at the bottom with three points out of six games played and are expected to face Azam Tigers on Saturday at Mzuzu Stadium.
